A Study Trip to FRIM for Building Technology and Materials

It is a trip for us to understand more on timber materials and species that can be used as building materials. FRIM is a nice place to hike, although I have problem hiking it due to the lack of exercise. And our tour guide is an experienced forester, that 's why his pace was very fast. I was walking , climbing as fast as I can to keep up with him in order to listen to his explanation and also capture pictures.

It was a very refreshing trip. We as an architecture students need more exercise and outdoor activities, not always stay in studio and draw. Our lifestyle is already unhealthy thats why we need to do more to keep our health at the positive side.

Due to time constraint we are unable to have a workshop on glue laminated timber :(

The 'AVATAR' spot

Bamboo is a sustainable building materials because it is easy to breed, functional and flexible.

The 'Tarzan swing'

The 'WOW' spot
It is the Chalk tree ( kapur ). Canopy. It grows this tall to get sufficient sunlight.

It was a tiring and fun-filled day. It gives us a moment to relax while having our major project submission.
